Poor Alaska

Inspired by my friend K., I decided to show you an interactive map of all the states I've visited.

Please turn off your cell phones

B.'s been hanging out in his Johnny Jump Up chair for a few months, but just this week he learned to bounce all on his own. You can tell how excited he is about this new development.

P.S. If you have Bon Bons for this movie, you better share!

Wishful thinking

A rapid POP! POPPOP! POP! pierces the late afternoon stillness in my neighborhood.

Me: Ugh. Fireworks already. (Pause) At least I hope that was fireworks.

C.: Yeah. Me, too.

Backward boogie

Earlier this week it was the bed, now he's crawled under the couch. Since he can only motor backward, he tends to get stuck in places.
Here, I can just imagine him saying, "Hey lady, a little help?!"

Found

No, not the bike, the filter in front of the camera lens. I found it in my old camera bag ... the one I used in high school. The filter has crosshatch scratches on it, creating the starburst effect you see here. Sweet!

Night owl

On my way home from work, I saw another out-of-place scene on Broadway.

A man in a suit and tie fished in his right trouser pocket for the correct change, inserted it into a rack and peeled off an almost day-old newspaper. It was 12:45 a.m.

Crawling?

Or is he just scooting backward?

12 months

I think I finally wrapped my brain around this: My "little" boy is wearing 12-month size clothes.

Detour

It took me 45 minutes to get home last night. I left just after midnight.

There were four cones blocking the onramp to Interstate 70 just by the National Western Stock Show. I didn't know how to get around, so I figured I'd wing it. Well, after sputtering through Globeville (someplace that looks scary at 12:30 a.m. when you're all alone in your car, hoping you don't run over a nail and need to do a quick tire change), I finally ran into the Commerce City refinery. No through streets around there. I went back the way I came, a good 15 minutes of back tracking.

I found the exit I needed, but it was almost 1 when I got home. And my trip is typically 20 minutes one way. So much for avoiding "traffic" by commuting at night!

Things

B. and I saw a lot today when we were out and about.

The car seat. A. Lot.
Traffic.
A "pirate ship" in the Lakewood rec center. It was the children's play area at the pool.
Lots of other cute babies.
A car fire - or the remnants of it.
More traffic.
An unfamiliar crib (over at Grammie's).
A Coors Field suite.
A heavily liquored woman at the game all too eager to show off her bra on the Jumbotron. The whole stadium saw her flash everyone when she realized she was on screen (with beer in hand).
A Rockies' victory, including two home runs that made the seven fountains burst with excitement just beyond center field.
More traffic.

Now, I hope to watch my eyelids, just like B. and C. have been doing for about an hour or so. 'Nighty night!

:-O

Look at the time stamp on this post.

I just woke up.

The boys went to the mechanic, and I got to sleep in. Late.
